Legal journalist Carmel Rickard looks beyond the borders of South Africa to the Southern African region and surveys a number of the chief justices and behaviour that has provoked questions about “judicial temperament” and whether such eminent persons should be beyond scrutiny. She also considered the relationship between a constitution and a judiciary and warned the audience not to take the South African judiciary for granted.
